Two topics: Lower suspension and OEM luggage

Picked up my Expedition on Monday and taking it on a two day trip this coming weekend. A couple questions I want to run by those of you with experience with the bike.

Lower suspension. The bike is too tall for me and I need to lower it. For this weekend I'll wear my tallest Gene Simmons boots and can at least touch toes on both feet. It will work for a pavement ride. But, I'm interested in what solutions have been found that folks are happy with. I bought the Touratech 30MM lowering kit with the ultra progressive springs but haven't installed it yet. Other options?

OEM luggage. I can see the potential failure based on the luggage design when loaded with downward pressure on the two vertical attachment points. I'm not sure even a third attachment point located to the rear of the bags would make much of a difference over time. It seems that a couple cinch straps that would draw and hold the luggage inward close to the rack would be a viable solution - similar to the cinch straps you find on Giant Loop and other luggage - that would keep the luggage from moving independent of the motorcycle (and cause premature failure). Thoughts on that idea?

Trade it for a regular Norden. :)

KTM makes a 25mm lowering kit for the 890R, (same suspension as the Expedition) which includes a shorter kickstand, and shorter springs at the factory spring rate. The rear shock needs to be disassembled (and the fork cartridge i think) for the install, so I'm paying a shop to do it. The center stand will likely need to be shortened or replaced....I'll report back after mine's done and I get a few miles on it.
