Took the 901 out for a bit of back road adventure (bike has less than 195 miles). After about 2 hours I was coming out of the mountains got onto a State route and bike sputtered and then light came on and engine shut off. Checked if oil leak none to be found and had plenty of oil. Disconnected connectors to battery to try to reset system, no joy. Bike is back at dealer. I think faulty oil sensor (or something like that). Anyone experience anything like this. The thing is brand new! Other than that really enjoying it!

Thx.

Update…as it turned out…there was nothing wrong other than one of the fuel valves on one side was closed not allowing fuel to flow to side that had filter / pump / gauge, so never read that it was low on gas, which I guess made the red oil light go on. Anyway, just picked it up from the dealer after they tested and prodded for a day and it seemed perfectly fine.

Dealer and I both learned lesson, they should check those valves prior to delivery and when was the last time that the “first thing” you didn’t check would be fuel flow…ugh!!!!

Poor PDI not what you expect from a supposed premium brand.
Dealer should RTFM!

I have about 200 miles on mine and the gearbox struggles to go from 1st into neutral as it goes into 2nd. Total pain in the ass. I spent 3hrs with the KTM rep at the dealer and they want to break the case to look at the clutch. Needless to say I'm not impressed. I will address this issue next week and keep everyone informed .

It's strange how individually variable manufacturing still is, in this day and age of high precision manufacturing, milling and casting. My Neutral has been the best of any bike I've ridden. No false Neutrals while shifting, and easy to slip into Neutral when I'm done riding. My problem with the transmission (& it's a minor gripe) is that occasionally when shifting under full power using the Easy Shift (quick shifter), the RPM's spike for about half a second before the clutch fully engages and the transmission moves to 6th gear. This happens a couple of times a month, and it does shift into the desired gear - so it's just an annoyance.

BTW...you don't have to break open the engine case to work on the clutch, right? It's just a matter of removing the clutch cover on the right side of the engine, and then all of the clutch plates are stacked right there in a clutch basket.

Hi The Dirt Bike Academy,

I just got my Norden 901 on May 12th so you had your bike a month before me. I was stranded on the side of a road for the better part of a day due to this same problem. It seems very strange to me that during the "delivery prep" on these bikes, that this important item doesn't get checked (or wasn't on quite a few bikes). You would think that Husqvarna would make sure that ALL of their dealer's knew to verify that "both petcocks are open" before turning the bike over to the new owner. This is the first production year, why allow something so easily to solved to become "bad press" on what is a really great motorcycle.

I just got my bike back from it's first service and other than the issue with the fuel petcock, the bike hasn't missed a beat - Super Happy with my Husqvarna Norden 901. Really love this bike.

Mine is the same with finding neutral. I had the dealer install the Rottweiler Pro Shift Kit and it still didn't fix it. The shifts are more positive...more engaged, but I also still get the false neutrals. I'm tempted to get on the list for a DesertX.
