Unfortunate.
That sucks. It will be interesting to hear what caused it. Didn't some bikes have a fault with a seal installed incorrectly or something? At around 200 miles I put the camel heat shield on my bike to hopefully prevent my rear shock from cooking to death. I'm not sure if it was the heat that killed it but it's dead now. At 5,800miles, it started making a really bad klunk noise and feel when it gets compressed down at the 60% of travel mark and if I compress it and release it bounces and does not dampen. Good thing she's still under warranty.
I needed to go see my dealer anyway, I'll have them put this on the list of things to fix.

I recently installed a heat shield and personally I think it makes the feeling of heat on the legs worse. Not sure if it's helping the shock?

This! the stock shock is junkUpgrade to pro components?
Mine was replaced by the dealer but subsequently I changed the original spring and improved the settings. I also upgraded the front suspension with new valve kit. So far so good and low cost.At around 200 miles I put the camel heat shield on my bike to hopefully prevent my rear shock from cooking to death. Which kit did you use for this?Mine was replaced by the dealer but subsequently I changed the original spring and improved the settings. I also upgraded the front suspension with new valve kit. So far so good and low cost.
