I'd like a shorter screen rather than taller.

The turbulence at speed sucks.

I've only had the bike 2 days and have done 1,100 km. All on the road and at higher speeds... The bike is superb, but the screen is evil.

I added a Sport X-creen to the top of it and tried every angle imaginable. It makes the screen at least 60-70mm taller and can change the wind angle, but it didn't improve buffeting. Im 5'10"

However raising myself up 6 inches into clean air does the trick.

Hence thinking a shorter screen 🙂

How tall are you? I'm 5'7" and have suffered a similar problem on my Africa Twin for 4-years.
My 901 deposit was returned as no more bikes available. Looking to 2023 model now.

I have the same problem, the turbulence is unbearable! By making me very small, it does not change anything! I added a deflector at the top, not really better. I feel like it's not wide enough!

Oh my I want that. I just put 1600 miles through texas with 800 of those ridden in one day. This was right after the last storm and the wind was hard pressing and painful. I never thought I would be one to complain about such a thing, but it was like leaning my forehead on the wall for 12 hours. If anyone finds a working aftermarket option let us all know.

One might think that a low screen (or even no screen) will put too much wind and pressure on you, but it doesnt seem to.
I have a Super Duke 1290r and without any screen it never seems to have wind blast as a problem untill over 200 kph. But the clean air on the helmet is nice to ride in.
Im going to remove the screen altogether as a test. Also going toduct tape on a tall screen I have from my 1190 Adventure r to see how it goes when really tall.

today, I added an additional 14 cm in height. As I suspected, it didn't change anything. And I tested with 2 different helmets. Then I disassembled the windshield. This is quite noisy, but there is much less low frequency turbulence.I think the problem is that the windshield lacks a bit of width. Note that by plugging the two holes under the headlight, it is a little less noisy.

Good attempt at checking out some options.

One thing I might suggest is to try it without the screen again, but remove the phone ram mount as well. I suspect the odd shape of the ram mount a X shaped phone mount will cause a lot of noise. Without it would be interesting.

Another idea is to remove the Norden screen, then reattach it (or the other screen) low down, like you attached the other test screen. Have the top of it at just above the screen mounting points.

Indeed the ram mount must make a little noise. I don't want to change the position of the dashboard and the purpose of my tests is not to ride without the windshield: There is a very clear difference in protection with or without. The windshield protects quite well, the problem is turbulence. I intend to try again by putting on a larger windshield.

I see some people have had good results by installing a fork shield on africa twin bikes. I also suspect that the air ducts below the lights, and the lack of fork shield can contribute to the buffeting and noise..

yes I saw that they sell covers for the upper fork for different motorcycles. But obviously nothing for Norden! I tried to screw a plexi plate from below, but it was really ugly and it was too small for me to notice an improvement!
As in the photos, I plugged the two holes next to the headlights. There is a slight improvement.

The buffeting on my first run is a deal breaker. If I don't find a solution soon the 901 is history
If anyone can help plz advise

Have the same issue with turbulence on my 901. I found that if you stand up a few inches off the seat it’s much better. I haven’t ridden with the seat position in high yet but will try. I’m 5’-9” and have heard that taller some riders 6’-3” + don’t have the same issue. Not sure if the Husky taller windscreen will make a difference but if it has a front vent than maybe it will offer relief. This was posted elsewhere:
