Lowering the Expedition model

Many people here have mentioned that they’ll need to lower the Expedition when they get it. That includes me and my 30 inch inseam. Based on the information I found, I see two viable ways of doing it:
  1. Lowering kit from KTM or Touratech (-30 mm). About $500 CAD + install.
  2. Switching the suspension for the original Norden’s WP Apex (-21 mm). I confirmed with a knowledgable dealer that this is feasible and I know people interested in switching with me. Free to me but it may affect the resale value.
What are the pros and cons of each option? What do you recommend?

I ride 70/30 on vs off-road, often with a passenger. Most off-road is on gravel/dirt roads with the occasional single track. Thanks!

The upgraded suspension is the primary feature of this trim level; swapping it out would most definitely affect the resale value.

A lowering kit can be reversed down the road; I'd vote (strongly) for that option!

Now that I have the bike I can understand very well why some are worried about the height. My inseam is something like 36 and 4/5 inches with shoes and I can flat foot it but if I raise the seat to it's upper position I'm on my toes.

I measure 1.80, I have an 85cm crotch. I notice it, clearly taller than my 990 with 220mm suspension. But I hit the ground well.
In your case, I would go for a suspension lowering kit. As the colleague says, the suspension of the expedition is a "plus", and without it it will lose future value.

I upgraded my ‘22 Nordy to the taller suspension that you have on yours. If you’re interested, I’ll sell you my original forks and shock. You’ll also need the shorter side stand. (which I have as I upgraded to the taller one)

I’ll keep it in mind when I finally get to try my Expedition.
