Hi,

my name is Bernard, i am living 30 km South of Brussels, I am 62 years old. I bought a HVA Norden 901 in replacement of my BMW R1200GS Adv 2008. I am getting older and the the BMW is too heavy for me now. I was looking for something lighter but with good capacity for traveling. I use to go in the south of France (Alps, Provence, ...). I sometimes ride on gravel roads in the Alps (Finestre, Parpaillon, ...). I will get the Norden in February 2022, it is already in the store but some options are ordered and will come in February. I also have a Ducati 900SS of 1996. I like this bike too but just for little trips. I started with a Yamaha FZ1 then another Yamaha a DT400 for a few months. I got married and stopped riding. I waited until my two childeren where teenagers and restarted with a BMW F650 Scarver. I hope I will get as much fun with the Norden as I got with the GS.

See you soon

Hi Bernard and good to see another "older" gentleman here. I am 60 in a few weeks and have no road riding experience as my last bike was a dirt bike in 1990. Fortunately I have found a fellow that has become a good friend and he has about 50 years riding experience and will help teach me what I need to know. I have always liked the idea of an adventure bike and now my dream is coming true!

I look forward to seeing and hearing about your bike and your adventures :D

Take a riding course. It might save your life. Good riding schools teach you how to stay alive on the street. Friends teach you their bad habits.

Were you considering any other bikes before deciding to go with the 901?

I have two criteria: it must be lighter than the R1200GS Adv and comfortable enough to consider long journeys of several days. Lighter was easy to find but comfortable is not evident. BMW F850GS is not reputed to be comfortable. I do not like the look of the F700GS. I like Ducati but for street bikes. I do not like the look of the Multistrada.

I made a test ride with the KTM 890 Adv. I found it perfect for me except for the comfort. It was not regarding the suspensions but well the saddle. I thought I was sitting on a plank of wood. Hopefully I saw test rides on the Norden 901 beginning November and everybody found it is a comfortable bike. I know the 901 is a clone of the KTM regarding motor and frame but with beter saddle. I like the design of this bike. So the choice was made. I just had a short hesitation with the annoucement of the Ducati Desert X (pretty look). But I cannot wait until May, I want to travel in June. I think that KTM/Husqvarna are more experienced in the design of trails with off road capabilities than Ducati.

Last point : I have a dealer at 20 km.

All good reasons to go with the 901. A comfortable seat has to be high in priorities when you are traveling and I think Husqvarna took note of this and designed the bike for some creature comforts.

I won't be able to ride the new bike till late April if the weather cooperates.
