When I picked up my bike from the dealer due to the coolant leak (and I had the 9300 mile service done), one of the things they mentioned was that Husky added rebuilding the rear shock to the 9300 mile service. The tech removed my shock, but found no leaks so he decided against the rebuild. One...it would have been weeks for the seals to come in and two...it would have been a waste of time for my shock. Pretty sure mine was good because I installed the heat shield with less than 100 miles on the bike. Not my best fabrication work, but it got the job done.

I added the heat shield by Camel with in 200 miles, not sure if it actually prevented any damage, but I did ride a bunch in 90°+ weather and have had no issues. I know that it's baked my feet and I can only imagine how hot that shock gets.

I can't say for sure that's what did it. But I had my shock leak recently, and the dealer had it rebuilt at KTM (in Ohio) last week.

When I first started riding in July of 22, I felt that the CAT was super hot against my leg. I bought a decat pipe and Camel ADV shield.

Dealer picked my bike up in December to do 1st service (Heated grips, and a few other little things) and when they brought it back, I noticed some leakage under the bike in the trailer, and on top of the skid plate. (the bike was cinched down compressing the rear shock)

I didn't take it off the trailer or accept delivery and asked them to bring it back to the dealership and that's what they said they found was the "shock was bad"...

I only had about 1200 miles on the bike. Maybe half of that with the CAT still on. So yeah, I would like to believe that is the culprit, or bad shock from the factory. Either way, I am glad I caught that when I did.

Cheers.

14000kms so far and no issues. Only put the heat shield on about 3000kms ago.
