Seems like a question that should be asked with you all the faithful 901'ers present.

I'm am still way leaning towards the 901, but the 890 ADV is in the potential mix.

Your thoughts??

Did any of you contemplate the KTM vs the Norden.?

Two of my enduro riding buddies were each going to order 890s’. I told them to tell the owner of the shop that I wanted to order an 890r as long as they were getting a couple of bikes. I put a deposit on one and they had two Nordens coming in first. I liked the seat and the fairing on the Norden more so I bought it instead. We all know these are the same bikes but those two guys really hate the seats. I like my seat.

I took a long hard look at my riding style and goals. Currently have a 950 Adventure and I don't ride anywhere near its capabilities. While the 890A looks amazing and I love the idea of being able to ride it like some folks can, at the end of the day, my style is more backroads, fire roads and dirt roads. I'm not going to ride singletrack or wild, rocky, rutted goat trails. I opted to get on the list for the 901 because while it can handle everything I'd ever want to throw at it, I'm after something a little more comfort oriented. If I want to be a hooligan, well, that's what the 950 is for. Can't wait for March when my bike is due in.

The 2023 KTM 890 has changed seat, fairing, display, software, fork and windshield.
It´s closer to the 901 than the 2022 model. Maybe I would have thought about it, but the 2023 is not out yet and the 901 still looks way better. ;) And I got mine in December.
Also, the 901 is more capable offroad than the Adv. S and has lower seat heigt and more comfort than the Adv. R.

So for me the 901 is the perfect combination.

Yes, the 2023 KTM 890 variants are much better looking than the insectoid 2022's, but they are still no Norden!
Did you get a 2023 in December? I see you are in Austria. They were promised in the US in December, but never arrived.....

No, I got a 2022 Norden at a very good price. I haven´t heard of any differences in 2023 except the Norden Expedition.
No 2023 models in Austria yet.

My favorite mods are the Scott’s steering stabilizer(performance), vanache foot pegs(comfort), husky adjustable clutch & brake lever(comfort),wp xplor pro suspension(performance).
The Scott’s steering made a huge difference once I put 50/50 tires on

What type of riding do you do? The Norden lacks the nicer off road suspension on the 890r, but it makes up for it getting to and from the trails on the road. The seat is way better on the Norden and I think feels better on road. Other than that, it's mostly looks, not having to ride something orange around and you don't have to wear Redbull branded gear...

I own a '21 890 Adventure (non R) and the '22 Norden. The Norden has better/adjustable forks and better seat and is supposed to have better wind protection. Has updated dash and a few other updates. Seems for '23 they morphed the Norden and the 890 together and the '23 looks to be as good. Don't know that it will come with all the same features as standard or if you will have to add them. To be honest if I didn't't have the Norden I'd jump on the '23 890 Adventure.

The Norden looks cool but I'm not sure how aerodynamic it really is? That round headlight is like a flat plate of frontal area causing turbulence that has to reattach itself somewhere somehow before it gets to the rider for smooth airflow. The '11 KLR I bought as a winter bike with a Bajaworx windshield is much better for rider turbulence going down the road than the Norden. My 890 Adventure is smoother if maybe a bit windier. Prior to the Norden accessory screen being available I took the 890 on every trip I did last summer. I am not knocking the Norden but if I were buying this year I would sit on both the Norden and the 890 Adventure (non R) put pen to paper see what comes with what and really compare the 2 before I made up my mind. Good part is no way you can lose with either bike so in the end there is no wrong answer.

I considered the 890S, but it didn't have the ground clearance I needed and kinda reminded me of a Honda CB500X. As for the aerodynamics of the Norden, I'm waiting for Givi to make an "airflow" windscreen for it. Had one on my Tiger 800XC and loved it.
