Crashbars Vs skidplate

Hi everyone! I’m really in trouble between crashbars and axp skidplate.

On my previous KTM V2, I always use the oem crashbars: they looks great and works better, saving bike for low and high speed crash.

I bougth the Norden to have a lighter bike and, if possibly, I’ll like to avoid crashbar: axp skidplate shoud be a real alternative?

We all know that bars can cause damage if they get caught in protruding obstacles, but - as far as I understand - the axp plate has three fixing points on four which are the same as the crashbars (which actually have three on each side, and therefore can better dissipate the impact) and the resistance is entrusted to only two aluminum brackets with a single fixing point. It seems an elastic system rather than rigid, and it can have its value, but I think that my problem is falling from a standstill or at low speed, if I fall at high speed I think more about myself than about the bike ...

I can‘t decide. What do you think? how does axp works in the event of a fall ofa 230 kg motorbike with full fuel, not on a 100 kg motocross bike? Some has experience with a big bike?

Please update when you install the H&B guards. I’m looking for a compatible combo of crash bars and skid plate as well. AXP says they don’t guarantee comparability with any other manufacturer. After watching install videos it seems that the thickness of the AXP plastic may misalign the H&B guard.
Still two weeks out. I’ll let you though.

Still waiting. May 5th is four weeks since I ordered. Hopefully I have them by next week.
I’ll let you know shortly. I’ve an AXP poly plate on. A crash and subsequent scratches convinced me greater damage could have happened. Took a chance and ordered the H&B crash bars. They’re back ordered. I’ll post the experience. Also ordered handlebar pro. Handlebars took a significant blow and the stick hand guards ‘ran for the hills’. If the AXP and crash bars aren’t compatible, the AXP will be up for sale. The side of that bike is fragile.
Late to this thread, but did the H&B bars play nice with the AXP skid plate? I’m thinking of getting the skid plate to go with my H&B “solid” bars.
Yes! I had to grind/sand down the left front edge of the AXP, but otherwise fit well together.

After a couple of month, according with the dealer the order for connectivity unit and heated grips was turned on the OEM skidplate.
It’s looks fine - maybe with a bit of black it will looks better - and, don’t use the instruction manual, works perfect.

Lighter than the crashar, and less wide. I don’t practice off road, generally, so I think this is rhe right solution for me. I know that a crashbar should be more protective, but at moment I’ll tray this.

My givi crashbar is for sale, they’re perfect.

That looks pretty sturdy. You're right though, needs to be black.

I’ve had both… I got rid of the crash bars because they are Pain to take on and off every time you need to change the oil or do any lower motor work. They also damaged my tank bolt… so now I have AXP skid plates… the stock skid plate was ruined with one drop on a dirt down hill. AXP has suffered a smaller drop with no problems. So in summary. Crash bars…better protected, but kinda a pain… I’d say unless ur pretty hard core… skid plates will be just fine.

At the end, I'm using the Husqvarna original skidplate. It's not much heavy, easy to mount and dismount for the oil change, but with some trouble for first mounting.

I don't use the bike for heavy offroad so I can't say if it is good enough as an Outback or other similar product, but I can say that it's painted, not anodized, so after 6.000 km in the rain through Norway without cleaning, it is stained with dirt and cannot be cleaned. Objectively, such a product would be better to make it with a resistant anodizing. The idea, as soon as I have some time, is to try to paint it black.
I have the Outback Motortek Ultimate Protection Combo (crash bar/skid plate combo) and I don't have to remove or loosen anything to change the oil and filter. It's also "frame mounted" versus most of the options out there are engine mounted.

Any update here? Also searching for compatible crash bars with AXP plate

It looks like you installed the Husqvarna ProBend HCM Handguards by Cycra. From the photos you provided the screw which would normally hit the TFT screens appears to be installed reverse so that it won't. Was that part threaded to allow for that or did you have to do some sort of modification? If so what?
I have the Big Dog skid plate and H&B crash bars - big fan of both.
