Hello friends,
since it is quite difficult to find suitable tank bags for our north, I would like to start a collection here where everyone can present their tank bag solution.
I would be very grateful if you would take part.
Please share the following information with us.

  • Manufacturer of the tank bag
  • model name
  • a mounted photo

Many thanks for the support

I just ordered the Husqvarna/Norden specific 9L tank bag that has a magnetic connection (with safety strap) to a secondary ring that attaches to the gas fill cap. I had a similar one on my Svartpilen and it worked great, especially when pulling up to a stop.....easy to just reach down and pull the whole bag off when filling the tank, or going into the store, etc. It is strange that there aren't really any photos of the Norden tank bag actually attached to a bike. I hope it sits far enough forward to not be too in the way when standing. My only complaint with the Svartpilen bag was that maybe the build quality wasn't quite on par with similar models from Enduristan, etc., and that despite being made from waterproof fabric, they still gave you a rain cover, but for the overall convenience and cleanliness of the Husqvarna version, I'm willing to take a chance. I really dislike the weird strap harness things that are required for attaching most tank bags on modern ADV tanks (which always seem to be sort of an awkward shape). I just hope the Husqvarna/Norden bag is at least pretty waterproof.......we'll see. My Expedition is supposed to arrive this month, and I imagine there will be plenty of rainy day rides here in the Northeast come spring to test it out.............

I am leaning towards the Nelson Rigg RG-1045 at this point.

It's a bit bigger than most and expands & it's much much more affordable than ADV specific tank bags.

I kinda like a bigger tank bag and most of the time will not ride with panniers so I also have a rear seat bag too.

I am looking at the same set up. Do not like straps. I was hoping there was a solution from Givi w/ tank ring. I looked at the Hepco B but did not like their options.

Well, my Husqvarna Norden specific tank bag arrived yesterday, and at first blush, I'm kinda not impressed. The tank ring is really nicely formed and finished, and feels super solid and well made. The tank bag itself, on the other hand, is a little awkward. It's bizarrely tall, even in its unexpanded state. I suppose they have done this to actually give it some sort of capacity, since form fitting it over the awkward tank shape makes it really lose a lot of volume, but I would have personally preferred a more compact, tighter fitting, lower profile bag. In the fully extended position, it seems like it might really be in the way, and absurdly tall. From being packed down and compressed in the box during shipping, the top portion of the bag (everything above the internal stiffener) has taken on the appearance and feel of a discarded and dried out orange peel, which really gives it a sort of dumpy and unappealing appearance.....I'm sure with some sun and time it will return to its intended form, but even so, the whole extra zipper extension thing feels bulky and poorly designed, as it leaves an awkward heavy roll of vinyl on the inside perimeter of the bag when not in the extended position. While I imagine the fabric/vinyl itself is waterproof, it all comes down to the zipper, and there are no storm flaps on this, so in heavy rain I imagine it will leak. There are also no charging access points leading to the interior of the bag, so one would just have to close the top zipper around a power cord, which would definitely make for a leak point.

It should be noted that I am personally looking at this from a primarily off road perspective, so am especially concerned about the bag being in the way, and especially when standing. For road biased touring, it might be just fine. I do like that it has a clear map pocket on top, as that is actually something I like to use, even when running a GPS.

Even with all that complaining, I am still considering keeping it (!), as I really like the simplicity and ease that comes with a magnetic system, and also because I have another magnetic tank bad that seems to work with the stock Husqvarna ring, but it is a little on the expensive side to keep just for occasional use, and/or certain trips, and to not be able to totally rely on it in the rain......

Thanks for the update. I wonder if there are other compact magnetic tank bag that could attach to the OEM ring. I may still end up buying the oem as well as the alternative, or lack of thereof, is not better.
Yeah, I fit a magnetic Biltwell tank bag that I have used for years on the ring, and it pretty much works. I looked at Enduristan models, and they look good in terms of 'proper' quality and size, but use straps and are also out of stock everywhere.....

I posted on a different thread but will throw my 2 cents in here too.
I have the Enduristan 4s tank bag. Expandable so lots of room. Completely waterproof. Good quality and has inlet for electrical cord. Some may find it tall, but compared to other bikes I find the tank is low on the Norden. So the bag is fine for me.
It does use straps but I run them under the seat At the back. The one at the front has clips to undo for fueling. It's simple in my opinion.
Previous to this I had a giant loop Diablo. I liked the bag alot but it was a bit on the small side for longer trips. Also the bag mounts to the bag-base with a zipper. The bag base is strapped on too the bike. on my previous bike (GS Dakar) the fuel was under the seat so I didn't use the zipper mount except when doing maintenance. After using it on the Norden for a month on a long trip (fueling once or twice a day) in dusty conditions the zipper got stuck and broke. So I wouldn't recommend that system for a any of road expeditions.
Happy shopping!
