Since I have been on a shaft driven bike for a long time, what lube are you using for this bike?

Is a chain lube thread like an oil thread?

I just use cheap gear oil. There's a great FortNine video comparing some popular choices. My Cobrra oiler recommends 80-90W and biodegradable.

At around 1000mi my chain started to squeak, (I clean the chain every other tank and spray some chain wax on it) even with cleaning, I still had noises. It was also getting pretty hot, I could see with my thermal camera that the chain was about 100°f hotter than the sprocket. After about 1500mi it stopped squeaking and never got hot again. Sounds like it might have been rubbing on the chain guard and finally wore to the point where it stopped rubbing... I'm going to put a nice x-ring DID chain on it next.

Gear oil, cheapest and most effective.

A chain oil (close enough to oil) thread is always entertaining! Advrider have some fun threads if you wanna go deeper in the rabbit hole.

Use Bel-Ray, also have a smaller 175 ml bottle for travels. No clue if it’s good or not, it seem to stick to the chain.
