First 901 just arrived at the local dealer in Vancouver so I went for a look-see and test-sit.

Looks better than pictures, nice balance. Intuitive screen menus. I could get balls of both feet on the floor and the bar-seat-peg relationship seated / standing felt good for a 169cm 70kg guy.

First thing I noticed was no functional shock - push down on the seat and it sprang up fast with a hard Klank! Shock seal is blown with fluid dripping off spring and down onto swingarm.

Second was the seat yellow stripe not matching up with the tank. Cosmetic not functional impediment.

Service manager is aware of the potential new bike issues "they say not every shock is ruined but it's starting to look that way".

I'd heard that the shocks were frozen in transit - sounds crazy! Regardless it might be a while before replacement shocks arrive and bikes can be delivered to customers.

Thanks for that update. I’m still waiting for mine and it does not appear as if any bikes have landed In Ontario dealerships yet. Just looking at some photos of other bikes on the forums and a couple listed for sale on Kijiji (Manitoba), they all appear to have the same misaligned seat stripe.

Seat in high position will be misaligned by design.
This bike had the seat in the low position which should line up.
Possible the seat was not properly latched in place but did not feel like it.

It looks like the other seats were also in the low position but you’re right, they may not be properly latched and I’m also just looking at pics.

Checked back with the dealer this week. 6 of 6 bikes had blown shocks. Shocks removed and returned for warranty. Was unclear if they would get new shocks or if Husqvarna was re-working the failed units.
Meanwhile 6 bikes not delivered to customers with deposits.
Might get a second shipment of bikes if some can be diverted from USA. Otherwise November for the 2023 model.

Inseam 81cm (32”)
I won’t be getting a 901. Dealer had allotment cut in half - second shipment of bikes to Western Canada won’t happen - and returned my deposit.
Called me a week later and said some bikes would be pulled from the US; guess it’s better to deliver bikes to people with depots down than sit on a showroom floor waiting for a buyer. Need to keep the ‘market hype’ going.
So I keep my 2017 AT for another year while I ponder options. Will service suspension, replace steering head bearings, change coolant and try a larger rear sprocket for better off-road control.
Maybe a 901 next year, or a lighter more reliable T7, or ??? Whatever, Husqvarna / KTM lost a sale and it will take a lot to get me interested again.

Picked mine up yesterday. Checked the rear shock at dealership. Worked the suspension and seemed ok. By the time i got it home 2hrs later, all oil leaked out of the shock onto the bed of my truck. Haven’t even unloaded or started it yet. Going back tomorrow for rebuild/replacement.
That sux Red901,
That's the last thing you want after picking up your new ride, I hope they are able to do something ASAP for you.

Is this shock problem just a US, Canada thing, or have other countries had the same problem.?

Western Canada for sure. Most bikes affected, 100% at local dealer (all six received). Dealer pulled all the shocks and sent them back for warranty rework.
Dealer in Alberta got the only spare shock in Canada for his customer.

I have about 6 weeks before I can ride it anyway. Hopefully they can get it sorted out by then. This forum is the only place I’ve read about the shock issue. Seems odd. Using WP shocks, not like it’s a budget brand or new to the market.
I posted it over on ADV rider

I spoke to my dealer yesterday. Apparently my shock has been removed and shipped to Que. for rebuild.
No other information regarding when I can expect it back. Getting close to riding weather here, but not convinced I’ll be enjoying it.

Je mi veľmi ľúto, že v USA a Kanade máte takéto problémy. V piatok som bol na servis po 1000 km. Vojna na Ukrajine čo je neďaleko môjho bydliska je strašná. No Slovensku čo sa týka Nordenu pomohla. Môj predajca dostal dodatočne ďalšie 3 kusy 901 Norden. Tie 3 kusy čo mali ísť na Ukrajinu. Norden je ozaj skveli motocykel.

My dealer said all bikes shipped, at least to Canada, had evidence of leaking rear shock seals. Still waiting for the replacement. Hopefully next week?
